Analysis Questions:

1.) What indicators (at least 3) determine that a chemical change (or reaction) has occurred?

When they put barium with the fire it came put to be the color yellow. When you put litium you get the color hot pink and when you put strontium the color hot red with the bottom blues occurs.

2.) What is emitted when a chemical change takes place in the flame test.

What happens is that when she sprays the chemical compounds to the fire the reaction is to change the color.

3.)What group, from the periodic table, do these elements exist?

Alkali metals, alkali earth metals, and non metals

4.) Do any two elements give the same spectrum of color? Explain why?

No because each chemical compound has its own color.

5.) Recall what a catalyst is in a chemical reaction.  What was the catalyst in these reactions?

It happens when two or more particles interact.It changes the rate of a chemical reaction.

Flame Test Experiment

Purpose: To demonstrate and classify the characteristics of a chemical reaction.

Objective: Describe the difference between a physical and chemical change.

Chemical Compounds:	Elements Involved:	Characteristics:
Barium Chloride	Ba	I see yellow flames over the blue once they spray barium chloride.
Calcium Chloride	Ca	The color i see is like a hot orange.
Lithium Chloride	Li	I thought this was the cutest i saw hot pink mixed with blue.
Potassium Chloride	K	The color i see is violet/purple
Sodium Chloride	Na	The colors i saw was yellow and a lil orange with some pink still left over from lithium.
Strontium Chloride	Sr	I saw orange and red with some yellow on the bottom.
Unknown???		The colors i see is pink and yellow
